Find confidence back from the chaos in your mind
Give direction to your life again

Thoughts tumble over each other and you fail to find peace within yourself. We all have periods when this happens to you. If the chaos lasts longer, you slowly lose faith in yourself and lose yourself. You no longer know what to do and what choices you want to make. It is a sliding scale from doubt, uncertainty, desperation, to hopelessness, despair and eventually depression. Some seek refuge in creating control and routine so that some peace is found in this. Others seek refuge in drugs, sports, work or food. All these solutions are temporary and their effect is relative.
At the heart of chaos is always the lack of dwelling on what is in the moment. The situation in the here and now makes one unhappy and no way can be devised to escape from it. Thoughts run in circles and repeat themselves. Advice and suggestions from others do not help to change the situation, only increasing the chaos of thoughts.
It is thought that finding peace is the solution to the problem and hence the advice to start meditating or doing mindfulness. This is a fundamental fallacy, you cannot calm chaos through meditation.
The way out of chaos in your head
The way out of chaos in your head is initially to recognise that you are unhappy with your current lifestyle and that there is a need in you to change it. Next, you will need to take steps to start doing those things that do make you happy. If you have waited a long time to create your own happiness, it can be quite a long road to get out of the chaos. The problem then is that you no longer know what you like and can't choose to do the things that make you happy. Start with small steps then and do simple everyday things that make you a little bit happier. Keep on doing little things for yourself and eventually you will find that the chaos subsides and you will actually find peace within yourself. Depending on how long chaos has been in your head, recovery can take weeks, months or sometimes years.
Learn to regain confidence in yourself by having fun in your life. It is always possible to regain confidence in yourself, dare to ask for help when you can't manage on your own.
